Hi, I am install domjudge on centos 6. I have some problem: 1. I can not find how to edit grup when try find file contain GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT 2. [Domjudge]: Run checker developed in Checker framework problem?

Dear Sir, I have a checker from problem set of Northern Eurasia Programming Contest 2017 ( I uploaded it to my google driver and share it below ). The checker had been compiled and packaged into a jar file. I wrapped it by a run script. Network Access inside Chroot environment

Hi Guillaume, Please don’t forgot to add the devel list in your mails. For your question: I’m not entirely sure. I think you can configure it using the MySQL server configuration. Swap for judgehosts

Hello, I was reading the adminstrators manual and I have a question about the section about setting up a judgehost: https://www.domjudge.org/docs/admin-manual-3.html#ss3.7 It recommends the 'swapaccount=1' kernel parameter, but that made me wonder if you actually want swap on a judgehost. I'm not fully familiar with how Linux processes and swap work in detail, but say a judgehost is judging a random submission while the RAM of the host is almost exhausted. If the memory is swapped to disk to clear space for the memory allocated by the submission, doesn't that potentially heavily impact the run time of the submission? And if that's true, wouldn't you see a TIMELIMIT that is not fully justified, because while you might not exceed CPU time, you will exceed wall time? I hope you can shed some light on this. API Call is Running Slow

In debugging process, we found out that process of API Call in fetching config and testcases is 5 to 7 seconds each. The compiling and executing process has no problem in time manner. How to upgrade domjudge system from 5.1.3 to 5.3.2 without changing current data

Hi all, I'm managing a domjudge system ver 5.1.3, and I hold many contests with lots of problemsets and students works there. Now I installed a new judgehost with domjudge ver 5.3.2, and I coped with this error while connecting judgehost with the legacy domjudge server via APIs, I think that it's an incompatible error. "Configuration variable 'diskspace_error' not found." I would like to solve this problem, but I don't know how to? BTW, I also want to upgrade the domjudge server system, but I don't know the procedure must be followed? Regards

Differences between master and ICPC-live

Hi, I want to get rid of the ICPC-live branch as soon as possible after the finals. I also think that we should do this first before we do any further symfony migration. This is a list of the differences to get the discussion started (I probably missed some things): 1) entry_point handling Options: a) add a global configuration b) always require an entry_point if the language itself requires an entry_point c) detect entry_point on domserver I would go with b). By default we can use compile scripts that auto-detect and configure languages as such. In a setting primary/shadow setting, we can require entry points as we do now. 2) Minor things: - Pause contest countdown / starttime_enabled - tsv/yaml import scripts - results/tsv export scripts There's no reason to disable these. 3) external IDs / external results - have only one database scheme, i.e. include columns for external_ids and _results - why don't we always use the contest shortname as ID in the API? - can we drop the expected result in favor of external results? (note that we didn't do a comparison on testcase level in the past but might want to do it in the future) - external_ids and _results can be used even in primary mode where we could fetch the results from the secondary 4) display test case results in submission lists Options: a) make it configurable (either per contest or globally) b) always display them (for jury of course) I don't think the test case results clutter the submission page too much, so I would just keep them always on for simpler code. 5) removed time intervals The code in calcContestTime looks fairly simple. As i understood you create temporary symbolic link in the root folder of the chroot execution which is located in the folder c<contest>-s<problem>-j<id>. >From where do you create your symbolic link. Live ISO Issue

Hi all - I'm having trouble writing the most recent live ISO file to a USB drive. I've downloaded the latest img from here: https://www.domjudge.org/live/ And used the bzcat command to write data to my usb drive (as root) bzcat domjudge-live_2018-01-09.img.bz2 > /dev/sdb When I boot from the usb stick, I get the menu to pick what I want to boot the computer as (webserver and judgehost, just judgehost, etc), but whenever I pick an option, I drop into intramfs with an errir bout 1 table load failing and 7 loading successfully. [Dj] CPU time vs. Wall time

Hello, I've been using DOMjudge since the old 3.x days, and in the last few years I've been applying a couple of changes in my new installations to overcome some problems that, IMHO, have arisen with the new versions. I want to share them in case they are useful for others, they can be considered to by applied to the mainstream version, or to get feedback if I've been doing something wrong. The first one is regarding CPU vs. wall limit times. When runguard is invoked from testcase_run.sh, the script provides it with the parameters --cputime and --walltime. Years ago the walltime was set with 2*${TIMELIMIT}. But at some point in the past, the format of $(TIMELIMIT) was changed to "<soft>:<hard>" and that expression stop working. The script was updated and now the --walltime is exactly the same as --cputime. I experienced difficulties because of that some time ago, because runguard reported Time Limit due walltime exceeded even when the CPU limit was far to be reached. This occurred when the server was suffering a high load, or the first time a big testcase had to be recover from the database. My solution has been to change that script (testcase_run.sh) so the walltime is scaled up. The official script is: runcheck ./run testdata.in program.out \ $GAINROOT "$RUNGUARD" ${DEBUG:+-v} $CPUSET_OPT \ ${USE_CHROOT:+-r "$PWD/.."} \ --nproc=$PROCLIMIT \ --no-core --streamsize=$FILELIMIT \ --user="$RUNUSER" --group="$RUNGROUP" \ *--walltime=$TIMELIMIT --cputime=$TIMELIMIT \* --memsize=$MEMLIMIT --filesize=$FILELIMIT \ --stderr=program.err --outmeta=program.meta -- \ "$PREFIX/$PROGRAM" 2>runguard.err and my change modifies the --walltime line: ... --walltime=*$((4*${TIMELIMIT%:*}))* --cputime=$TIMELIMIT \ ... Note that I'm using a factor of 4 instead of 2 used long ago by DOMjudge. This change works for versions up to 5.1.x. Since DOMjudge 5.2 timelimits can be float values, and my expression is not working anymore. Now bc is needed in order to be able to use float arithmetic: ... --walltime=*$(echo "scale=2;4*${TIMELIMIT%:*}" | bc)* --cputime=$TIMELIMIT \ ... This last patch is due to my college Joan Rodríguez, and adds a new package dependence (in judgehosts) with the bc program. The second change that I've been applying to DOMjudge is in runguard itself, and it is also related with CPU time, although now I'm unsure about the reasons causing my problems. Sometimes, when evaluating java submissions, instead of Time Limit verdict we got Run Error. We solved this issue increasing the real cputime hard limit in runguard. The official runguard adds one second to the CPU time limit, and for some reasons that seems to be insufficient in some cases so we change it to add 2 seconds. In the runguard.c source code: if ( use_cputime ) { /* The CPU-time resource limit can only be specified in seconds, so round up: we can measure actual CPU time used more accurately. Also set the real hard limit one second higher: at the soft limit the kernel will send SIGXCPU at the hard limit a SIGKILL. New team and public UI

Hi all, I've just committed to master my attempt at renewing the Team and Public UI's. In my opinion the DOMjudge interface looks a bit dated and could use a fresh coat of paint. Let me know what you think. Note that you need to run composer (see https://www.domjudge.org/docs/admin-manual-10.html#ss10.1) when updating from git sources. It's definitely not "done" in the sense that it could likely be made even better, but I think it's an improvement over what we had. Because of all the developments going on I purposefully kept to relatively minimal changes to get it done (i.e.: no rewriting to templating systems yet, nearly all logic unchanged, scoreboard layout untouched). There's room for more cleanup and refactorng, especailly if we want to change the Jury interface aswell. And if we want to move to proper templating via Twig for the entire interface. That is appropriate for after 6.0 I think. Cheers, Thijs

I keep getting compiler error

I was trying to setup a domjudge on Digital Ocean Ubuntu Machine. I followed the guide till end. System is running smoothly except that when I try to submit an answer I keep getting this error. Would you please help, I can't fix it for 2 days. Just installing the package above is not enough. What you need to do is to install the package _inside_ the chroot. The steps you need to take are (roughly, it may vary slightly depending on your environment): - copy icpc-kotlinc_1.1.4-3~icpc_all.deb somewhere into your chroot - enter the chroot: sudo chroot /chroot/domjudge (or whatever path you build it at) - install the package there: dpkg -i /path/to/icpc-kotlinc_1.1.4-3~icpc_all.deb - if dpkg complains about missing dependencies, run 'apt-get -f install' or install them and then try again - exit the chroot and test if it works You might need to bind mount /proc, /dev, and/or /dev/pts inside the chroot to make apt-get work. Thanks for the quick reply again, Sir. I was supiscious about kotlin is not installed in chroot enviroment too but i have no idea how to install them at chroot enviroment. Before you reply, I have managed to make kotlin work by compiling using kotlinc to make java executable (jar), and finally running the program using java and -jar parameter on addition other java parameter. Dear Domjudge - Developers, Hello again, I have problem to integrate Kotlin compiler in judgehost. For information, I'm using ubuntu 16.04 and I was installing kotlin from sdkman. But when compiling, it seems that domjudge cannot find kotlinc and kotlin. I have try to move kotlinc and kotlin to /bin/ directory. It seems to solve kotlinc problem, but domjudge still cannot execute kotlin. When I try to go to directory where /testcase001/execdir/program resides, and then execute it myself. Dear Domjudge Developers, I'm Andrew Jauhari from Mikroskil, an education institution in Medan, Indonesia. We are going to hold event that will use latest version of domjudge, and version 6.0.0 is prefered, but currently it is not the stable one. From what I see, the current stable version is 5.3.2 and was just released at 29 Dec 2017. I want to ask if domjudge v 6.0.0 stable will be released soon or not ? Until December 11th, there was a "domjudge" user on Docker Hub hosting two images: https://hub.docker.com/r/domjudge/domserver/ https://hub.docker.com/r/domjudge/judgehost/ Since December 11th this user seems to have disappeared from the site. Does anyone know who maintained the images and why they are now gone? They have been working just fine for me. Sorry if this list is not the appropriate place for the question. Fixing the permissions on the judging directory (/opt/domjudge/judgehost/judgings) got us back to where we were before, and we made some quick adjustments to the Apache configuration that seemed to help. I can't say for certain if that fixed everything because at that point the contest was close to over (we extended it by one hour) and some teams may have taken off already if they were not in the running. However, we were ultimately able to judge everything and complete the contest (albeit with contestants programming with no feedback for two hours). We in Southern California (that means me) would like to take you up on your offer for assistance with root cause analysis. I have the contest server sitting next to me here at home and can provide anything you might want that would help with troubleshooting. Please let me know what the best way will be to proceed. Hi Fatih, I guess you didn't create the corresponding user for domjudge-run. See https://www.domjudge.org/docs/admin-manual-3.html#ss3.7 We typically start the judgedaemon with -n <core-id>, e.g. -n 0 (even when running a single judgedaemon), then you need to create domjudge-run-0. CTD File Testing

Hi, I am preparing a problem set for Kattis and thought I'd try making a CTD file input format validator. I found the CTD GitHub and have been following along with the README and language specification. I'm currently a little frustrated. By running Kattis problemtools, I can determine if my ctd file compiles and accepts test cases. Currently, I cannot get SPACE EOF to accept a file with a single space, or INT(1,10000) EOF to accept a file with a single integer. I can get EOF to accept an empty file. Clearly something silly is going on, and it'd be much easier to see by a more instructive error message than accepting or not-accepting. So I thought I'd try to compile the ctd file my self, or run it myself and see if there is more error output. It looks like there's no instructions on how to go about doing that in the README on GitHub. I'm also not sure if the error messages would be more informative. I am suggesting such instructions be added to the README and that such a command would be able to give me a more informative error. Bryce

When my students submitted their codes, the judging system could not perform the judgement because of an error occurrence. Problem when using DOMjudge-live image version 2017-02-12

Hello domjudge team! I have downloaded and run the lastest version of DOMjudge-live image (version 2017-02-12) on virtualbox but my OS could not recognize network card. But it works normally when I use older verison (2017-9-26). Can you help me fix this problem? Thank you!

Hi, I'm from FPT University in Viet Nam. I'm a coacher of ACM Teams in my university this year. I installed DomJudge successfully ( including domserver and judgehost ) and work with them well. But I faced with two following problems: 1. The judgehost isn't able to judge with Java Code. (I attached an image for the problem) [image: Hình ảnh nội tuyến 2] 2. I still don't know how to set custom_checking script in case of some special problems in a contest which contains statements indicate that it has multiple optimal solution depending on developer. Could you explain and give me an example for that case. JAVA cgroups help

Hi. I set cgroups for java, but it does not work and I have some ask. I proceeded to install cgroups as follows the manual 3.17. ======= sudo apt-get install libcgroup-dev sudo edit /etc/default/grub GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet cgroup_enable=memory swapaccount=1" sudo update-grub sudo reboot and I checked the cmdline. cat /proc/cmdline print is BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/.. ~~ ro quiet cgroup_enable=memory swapaccount=1 next sudo ./configure >>During the execution of this command, I confirmed the following message. *use Linux cgroups...: yes sudo make build sudo ./misc-tools/create_cgroups and then, I run judgedaemon. However, judgedamon displays the message "Not using cgroups". ======== Can you tell me where I made the mistake? thanks.

Using the integrated event feed

Hi, I'm currently running DOMjudge v5.1.3. Recently, I wanted to use the Resolver in the ICPCTools. I saw the integrated event feed in /www/feed but I really don't know how to use and I can't find the documentation of the event feed. I'm not a PHP user so I can't come up with any solution on my own. Could you show me how to set it up in order to use the Resolver or link me to the documentation? Out of range value for column 'totaltime'

Hi guys We're running domjudge 5.1.1 and for some reason I don't understand we're being plagued this year by errors like the following: error: Error while executing curl POST to url http://domserver.cosc.canterbury.ac.nz/api/judging_runs: http status code: 500, response: error: SQL error, Error#1264: Out of range value for column 'totaltime' at row 1, query: 'REPLACE INTO scorecache_public (cid, teamid, probid, submissions, pending, totaltime, is_correct) VALUES (24,1403,222,1,0,-15780,1)' They occur when you set up a contest with an early opening date for testing purposes, make submissions then, later, move the opening date forward to the correct time. Refreshing the cache then results in those errors (because the submission time relative to the contest start time is negative), crashing the judgehosts. I've been solving the problem by marking the early submissions as "IGNORE this submission" or by hacking at the database directly but neither of those workarounds is very satisfactory. I don't recall having these errors last year, and nor do I think I've upgraded domjudge system since then, though I might have upgraded the OS? Any suggestions for a better work around, please? Checktestdata as EDSL

Hi all, Checktestdata is a nice DSL and has proved helpful in many situation, but from the moment I used it I was missing features and wondering why it wasn't implemented as an EDSL (Embedded Domain Specific Language). Now, many years later, I've finally found some time to create it. I've implemented a little library in Haskell, and as a sneak preview I've taken the interception problem from NCPC 2016 as referenced to in [1] and attached it. The first question is: where shall I put the sources to the library? Somewhere in the checktestdata repository (and if so, where), or maybe create a checktestdata2 repository? Let me give a little more information on why I think an EDSL is a good idea here, and why I choose for Haskell (other than my background): + With an EDSL, you get so much for free from the underlying language, such as (typed) variables, all sorts of abstraction mechanisms, compiler optimizations, etc. For example, some testdata script may consist of some repeated parts, which in an EDSL can simply be given a name to get rid of the duplication. + Compiler optimizations, which of course also exist for C++ in which checktestdata is built now, don't only optimize the checktestdata runtime, but also the script itself since it is just a program and not some custom script anymore. Especially with a functional language such as Haskell this means definitions of primitives can be inlined and whole parts of the script may get fused to a very efficient version. + Maintainability: my library is now +- 200 LOC, including docs and empty lines, and contains quite a lot of the checktestdata language already. Because Haskell has many well optimized parsing libraries, we get a lot for free, and only have to create a nice generalization for this particular use case. + Efficiency: the current checktestdata is just too slow, as mentioned in [1]. As a reference, on my machine the checktestdata script for interception 09.max_ans.in takes 35.5s, the python script takes 2.2s, and the attached version only 2s. And I haven't done anything to optimize specifically for this case, I've just translated the ctd script to the syntax of my EDSL. + With this, the script can do more than just checking the syntax. I.e. when the problem specifies that it contains a connected graph, one can check the syntax, but also the connectedness of the graph, while still separating concerns, i.e. the syntax of the input can be separated from the semantic checks, but the semantic checks don't need to come in a separate program which also has to read the input again, like we should now. All can be combined naturally. + Create your own combinators: the primitives can be easily combined into more complex combinators which you can then reuse. I.e. think of a 'point2d' combinator that reads two space separated integers. - Haskell Platform needs to be available, this is easy on all major OS, but is a quite large dependency. Then again, GCC and Boost are large as well, and are less Windows-friendly. - Slighly different syntax: although Haskell is quite liberal in its syntax for EDSL's, users have to get used to particularities of the language/ - Data generation is not easily possible, if not infeasible. There should be some way of embedding the language to make this possible, and this is actually what I've been working on for the past few years when thinking about this problem, but since we mostly use it for checking data I went with a monadic embedding which is very easy for data checking. - Backwards compatibility: parsing existing scripts and running it with the new backend is not going to be easy. I don't expect show stoppers, but it definitely won't be as efficient as writing scripts within the language because of variable bindings. I need to work on this a bit to be sure though. That's it, of course my libary is not done yet (no good error messages, no regex yet), but it's a proof of concept that is already usable for simpler problems. I hope to convince you that this is the way to go, and to get some ideas to create the POC into a working tool. Also, suggestions on 'interesting use cases' are welcome, the interception is a nice one but I am sure there are many more problems for which the standard checktestdata just not works. Storing participant program in execdir after judging is complete

Hello We run an instance of domjudge for our university courses, which has a lot of submissions (the judging run table has almost a million rows now). I was exploring ways to reduce the disk usage of the judge, and I found that in the directory for every judging run, we store a copy of the executable under execdir under every testcase. Each executable is > 1 MB, and when this multiplies with number of test cases * number of judgings, this becomes very large in our use case. Is there a reason why the executables are stored after judging is complete? Thank you Parth Mittal

Dependent problems

Hi all, At the Helvetic Coding Contest - as its name implies, Switzerland's largest programming contest - we patched DOMJudge to add support for hiding problem statements until another problem is solved. For instance, if C depends on B and B depends on A, teams are forced to first solve A, then B, then C. This year we had 5 such chains, for a total of 15 problems. This has two advantages: - It forces beginners to solve easy problems first, ensuring they'll solve a few problems and have fun rather than picking a hard problem whose difficulty is not apparent and getting stuck on it for hours. (This looks like a problem that should be solved by educating users, but as any software engineer knows, that is all but impossible :) ) - It allows us to have a bunch of problems on a common theme, where in a few cases the harder one's statement is simply "like the easier one, but with much larger bounds on the input" without allowing teams to solve the hard one first and then submit that solution to the easier one. More problems, less work for problem creators. Thus our contest is suitable for both beginners and experts (even if beginners don't have a chance of actually winning, they enjoy it). I recently rewrote that patch on top of the master branch of the DOMJudge repo, it's quite small (about 40 modified lines). Is this something DOMJudge users are interested in? Should I open a PR?
