Could you test the attached patch (it's also in the master branch) and see if it works for you? It should apply to the 5.1 branch too.
I applied the patch to the 5.1.2 files, ran "bootstrap", ran "configure", and ran the "make" commands. Everything ran to completion. I will let you know what happens when I get to the point where I can test the submit client.
