I'm trying to install DOMjudge live on my hard disk as a partition. But I'm new to this and there isn't a lot of information on how to do this. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Did you take a live/USB image from https://www.domjudge.org/live/?
Note that writing it to your harddisk in the way explained here [1], means that EVERYTHING ELSE on the hard disk gets overwritten! Writing it to a separate partition and booting into that, while preserving partitions already present, requires more non-trivial steps, and it might be best not to try this, unless you understand what you're up to (and have backups ready).
It might be better to explain what you're trying to do, so that we can suggest the best action to take. Do you want to have a quick test setup? Then the writing and booting from a USB stick might be an easier solution. If you want to run a full-blown contest, then it might be better to install DOMjudge the normal way from a release tarball.
Best, Jaap

Hi,
I'm assuming you're the same person who joined our IRC channel.
I think the problem is that you're trying to write the image to a partition /dev/sda4. The image itself contains a partition table and thus has to be written the whole disk, /dev/sda. Note that this erases all data on your disk! There's no easy way to make it work by writing the current image to a single partition. Your best second bet would be to run it as a virtual machine.
